When a couple has already been together for a long time, before getting married, they probably don’t need a lot when it comes to the registry. The Good Beginnings allows the couple to ask the guests to, in turn, donate to a charity or charities that the couple feels passionate about. This is a wonderful alternative to filling your home with extra items you probably didn’t need or want in the first place.
If you want, it might be nice to share with the guests the amount that was collected and donated in a thank you as they leave. Sharing that celebration with your friends and family is a nice way to thank them for doing this alternative registry.
If you are having a destination wedding in a place that is near and dear to your heart or even perhaps is impoverished, or not as wealthy of a spot, you could choose charities that give to the community you are in. Something locally centered would make the wedding have a special touch, and help support the area you are in.

“I think weddings, rightly so, have really evolved into a personal reflection of the couple, and if a tradition means nothing to you, then why would you incorporate it into your wedding?” - Beth
“This is kind of a next level of showing people who you are at your core. These are the things that are important to us as a couple. This is who we want to be in the world, not just on this one day with a celebration.” - Beth
